Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam Review: The Best For Youtube

Hello everyone! Today I want to discuss the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam and give my personal review of the product.

If you want to be a Youtube content creator or professional streamer, you’re going to want a solid webcam. Personally I am a big fan of bang-for-your-buck products. I love when a product can do everything I need it to do all while not breaking the bank. This has led me on a quest to find the perfect webcam that fits this definition.

In this Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam review, I will discuss why a webcam is a worthy investment and who should have one. Once that is out of the way, I will share all of the noteworthy features, pros/cons, my experience with the webcam, and much more. Let’s discuss what makes the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam a great webcam for content creation.

Why Use A Webcam?

Before jumping into the specifics of the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam, I want to explain how a webcam can be useful, and why someone should have one. If you already know all about webcams and want to skip ahead to the product review, click here

Webcams are affordable cameras that plug right into your computer through USB or HDMI ports. These cameras are useful for content creation because they can sit above your monitor and some (like the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam) can even attach to a tripod.

This is perfect for Youtube, reviews, commentary videos, and especially livestreaming. These styles of content creation are often done from the computer, so by using a webcam you can easily film yourself engaging in these activities.

Internal Vs. External Webcams

Many laptops already comes with a built-in webcam, but an external webcam will almost always beat an internal webcam. These internal webcams are great for virtual meetings and casual affairs, but if you want to create professional video content or even engage in livestreaming, you’ll need a better webcam.

This is because external webcams typically record at higher definition and at a faster frame-rate. It is important to create high-quality content to standout in the fast-moving world of content creation, and a solid webcam can certainty kick the quality of your content up a notch.

Webcams Vs. Digital Camera

So why use a webcam over a digital camera? There are pros and cons to using both webcams and digital cameras for content creation.

  • Great Video Quality
  • Typically affordable on any budget
  • Easy access to computer
  • Great for livestreaming
  • Useful for taking thumbnail photos for youtube videos or blog articles
  • Portable and easy to relocate

  • A webcam must be connected to a computer
  • While portable, it is not practical for out-of-office use
  • No Internal Storage
  • Typically lower picture quality than a great digital camera
  • Purchasing a separate microphone is recommended

Webcams are great because they are convenient – and often affordable – cameras that function with the click of a button. I find that recording videos with a webcam to be very easy and casual. I highly recommend getting a solid webcam if you are into any kind of video content creation.

This is especially true for streamers. A solid webcam can allow you to deliver high-quality live content straight to a streaming platform. You can obtain an incredible setup with just a webcam and some decent lighting fixtures. Being a content creator has never been more accessible thanks to current technology.

I highly recommend a webcam for both beginner and professional content creators. I will discuss more on who a webcam can benefit in the next section of this article, so stay tuned!

Digital Camera

  • High picture quality
  • Portable And usable outdoors
  • Dozens of in-camera options
  • Great for capturing outdoor content
  • Perfect for taking high-quality product photos

  • Great options can be very expensive
  • There can be a learning curve
  • Content must be transferred to a computer
  • Typically not viable for streaming
  • Requires a bit of upkeeping

The strengths of a digital camera lie in its portability and high-quality output. You can take pictures or record video from anywhere with a digital camera, and the picture quality is often unmatchable by a webcam. The cons mainly come from the incredibly high price tag on superior cameras and the learning curve required to get the best out of one.

With all this said, I highly recommend purchasing a great digital camera if you’re a full-time content creator. However for those who are beginners or new to the whole thing, I recommend just getting a webcam and working towards an additional camera as appropriate.

Now that we have discussed why a webcam is important, let’s discuss who could use a webcam.

Who Needs A Webcam?

who needs a webcam?

Representing your image online has never been more important. With online meetings, remote work, and content creation at an all-time high, it is time for just about anyone to consider upping their camera quality.

However despite a webcam being useful for anyone these days, today I will be discussing two main types of individuals that can benefit from having a decent webcam.

Webcams For Youtube Content Creators

I am a huge proponent for creating a Youtube channel. I even wrote an Ultimate Guide to Youtube that details the process from start-to-finish! Video content creation is becoming more and more popular every passing day, and I believe every business, brand, or individual can benefit from creating video content. Whether on Youtube or another platform, I highly recommend diving into this medium of content.

A webcam is incredibly useful for creating Youtube video content. Webcams are the most efficient and easiest way to film a video straight from your laptop or computer. If creating content is easier and more convenient for you, it is much easier to get into the flow of maintaining a content creation schedule and actually getting the work done.

Why I recommend an external webcam is that almost all internal webcams aren’t impressive enough for a professional Youtube channel. I will say that if your budget is incredibly thin and you’re just getting your feet wet with Youtube, I would say that it is fine to use an internal camera for now. However, I would upgrade to an internal webcam as soon as convenient.

Now that we understand why a webcam is important for Youtube content creators, let’s jump into another type of video content creation that can benefit from having a webcam

Webcams For Livestreamers

A webcam is an accessible and powerful tool for any livestreamer. I used to think that livestreaming was only for a certain type of person. Someone who already had all of the awesome tech that can allow someone to put on a liveshow. This isn’t the case at all however. With just a great webcam and maybe some additional lighting, you’ll be ready to livestream right off the bat.

Several high-quality webcams (like the Logitech C922 Pro) come with automatic light correction, autofocus, and high definition. These features are great for livestreaming because there is no video editing process when it comes to streaming. You have to work with what you have live. Having a great webcam can have your live content looking good and bright without any editing.

I find that a webcam is not only suitable for livestreaming, but it is the ideal way to stream. Large digital cameras can over complicate the setup and they are also much more expensive. For livestreaming it is best to get a great webcam that can capture you while you create content.

Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam Features

The Logitech C922 Pro Webcam has it all! Despite being a highly-recommended webcam for several years now, the webcam still holds up in 2022. Take a look at the table below for all of the features of the webcam. We will jump into each of these features one-by-one next.

  • High Definition 1080p Streaming
  • 60 FPS at 720p
  • Auto Light Correction
  • Dual-Mic Stereo Sound
  • Premium Autofocus
  • 78 Degrees Field of View

Now let’s discuss each feature in-depth and figure out exactly where the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam thrives and where it leaves something to be desired.

High Definition 1080p Streaming

When it comes to high-definition footage, the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam has you covered. The webcam is able to capture footage at 1080p at 30fps even while streaming. The quality comes out looking really crisp and clear, which makes this webcam perfect for livestreaming and taking photographs for thumbnail creation.

Logitech claims that the webcam records videos “true-to-life”, and I don’t think this is an over exaggeration. The footage comes out looking exactly how I would want or expect from such a webcam, and I am really impressed with the quality of both the pictures and videos I have captured.

60 FPS at 720p

For those who are more interested in capturing 60fps footage, the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam can trade-off some definition in favor of higher fps. This is a really neat feature because in some cases higher fps makes all the difference. This is especially true for streamers, as live content ends up looking a lot smoother and lively with higher fps.

The jump from 1080p and 720p isn’t harmful either. Footage still comes out great in 720p, but for those who want the higher definition for their content, high definition 1080p is still an option. I really like how this is an option with the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam, and I appreciate that the webcam is capable of switching between these settings as needed.

Auto Light Correction

This is another nice feature of the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam that can make a big difference. While honestly I just recommend using external lighting options, the auto light correction does still work well. For those on a tighter budget though, I can see this feature being a big help.

While the auto light correction feature will not allow you to shine in a dark room, it can make all the difference in a dim room. The auto light correction can help the camera capture your face more thanks to two lights that shine on the left and right of the webcam. It helps, but I still recommend investing in some lighting when you can.

I recommend the Neweer 2-pack LED lights. They are great for adding surrounding light to your set, and making even the dimmest of areas viable for filming. You can check them out by utilizing the link below.

Dual-Mic Stereo Sound

Another feature that I don’t personally utilize is the dual-mic stereo sound. I use a separate microphone when I record videos or stream. I recommend getting a microphone for anyone trying to make professional content or create content full-time. However, this doesn’t mean the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam has a bad microphone.

When comparing my default laptop microphone and the dual-mic stereo sound of the Logitech C922 Pro, I find that the webcam microphone is a big upgrade. It will definitely do the job for any meeting or casual video chat, but I highly recommend getting a solid microphone for professional use.

The dual-mic stereo sound picks up sound from the left and right of the webcam, capturing the direction of sound and speech. Viewers will be able to tell if you are speaking from the left or right of the webcam. This is a “surround sound” type effect, but not so literally.

To sum it up, the dual-mic stereo sound is a fine feature, but for professional use and I recommend upgrading to a solid external microphone.

Premium Autofocus

The premium autofocus is another great feature that adds to the picture quality of the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam. With the autofocus feature your webcam will automatically adjust, which will allow for crisp footage at all times.

The premium autofocus works well too, as I have never caught my webcam out of focus to date. This complements the definition of the webcam and the impressive fps capabilities as well.

78 Degrees Field of View

The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam has a great field of view to it. At 78 degrees, you can record a great amount of area. I am able to capture all of my set up within the field of view and I find that this makes for a professional and aesthetic view. I have never felt the want for a wider field of view, so I consider the view of the Logitech C922 Pro to be right where it should be.

My Experience With The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam

Now that we have gone through the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam features, I want to personally share my experience with the webcam. I would never recommend any product I don’t have 100% full faith in, so this is an important section! Here is my testimony regarding the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam.

Why The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam?

I have had a ton of webcams throughout my days, but this is the first time I purchased a webcam with intent of creating high-quality content. I did a ton of research before making my webcam purchase, and I was pretty confident that the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam was going to be a great match for me.

When creating content it is important to know what you want to do with your content, and where you want to take your overall brand. I knew early on that I wanted to create Youtube videos and livestream. The features of the Logitech C922 Pro seemed to fulfill all of the requirements I needed from a webcam.

*Note: It is important to make a checklist regarding what features you need from a product, so make sure you keep this in mind while searching as well.

My Experience With The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam

I am glad to say that the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam lived up to my expectations and more. I always expect to have some sort of gripe with a product (especially when technology is involved), but the webcam did everything it promised and it did it all well.

I am able to record content in a high-quality definition that makes me proud of my content. Creating thumbnails was a bit deal for me as well, and the images I take with the Logitech C922 come out perfect for editing and cutting.

The webcam complements my lighting and green screen well, and while some features such as the dual-mic stereo sound and auto lighting ended up being redundant for me, I appreciate that these features are there.

Now that I have revealed my experience with the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam, let’s jump into the pros and cons of the webcam.

Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam Pros & Cons

  • Fantastic video quality
  • Fast frame-rate perfect for streaming
  • Easy to use and accessible
  • Clear picture quality great for thumbnail photoshoots
  • Good sound quality for a webcam
  • Great price for the delivered quality

  • Auto Light Correction and Dual-Stereo Sound aren’t good enough to replace external lighting or audio
  • The product is a few years old now
  • Improvements over last model are not excessive
  • Background remover is useless due to poor implementation

The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam definitely has more pros than cons. While the quality and cost keep this webcam at the top of the market, the cons mostly lie within redundant or unnecessary features.

The webcam does everything as advertised, which is great, but features such as the auto light correction and dual-stereo sound just aren’t good enough to warrant using (at least not professionally). However, these features are great for personal use and will surely be an improvement upon your internal specs.

When it comes to the camera features, you won’t find a better bang-for-your-buck webcam than the C922 Pro Stream Webcam. I highly recommend it for any aspiring youtuber or streamer. Additional I recommend it for any professional that simply wants to take their digital image to the next level.

Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam Price Analysis

I have mentioned this quite a bit throughout this article, but the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam is fantastic for the price. You will not be able to find a better webcam for anywhere around its price. Amazon typically has the webcam on sale for nearly $20 off. This has been true every time I have done a price check in the last several months, so I highly recommend checking that out.

Inferior webcams will likely only save you $20 at most, so I highly recommend just going straight for the Logitech C922 Pro. That $20 will go far and make a huge difference in the quality of your recordings.

Competing webcams are often far more expensive, and the improvements are not great enough to warrant the upgrade.

With all that said, I find that the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam is the best webcam when it comes to price.

Alternatives For The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam

The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam is a fantastic webcam, but everyone is different and everyone has their own unique tastes. With that in mind I want to take some time to discuss some alternatives that also make for great webcams. Let’s jump on in and discuss some other great webcam options.

Logitech C920x HD Pro Webcam

Another great webcam from the Logitech family is the C920x HD Pro Webcam. While the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam is the definitive model, this previous model holds up quite well. The C922 did not make massive improvements from the C920x, so keep this in mind if saving a little bit of money is a big priority to you.

FPS is the main area lacking from the C920x to the C922. The C920x only records at 30fps, while the C922 can run at a whopping 60fps. For professional content creators (especially streamers) this can be important. However, the C920x does still get the job done decently enough.

I would only recommend going for the C920 if saving some money is crucial for you. The Logitech C920x HD Pro Webcam can be found on Amazon for $59.00 which is about $40 less than the C922 Pro Stream Webcam.

In short: If you have the money, I would recommend just getting the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam, but the Logitech C920x HD Pro Webcam is still a useful product in of itself.

Elgato Facecam

Some consider the Elgato Facecam to be the definitive webcam of 2022. With true 1080p at 60fps, it sure has the specs to be one of the greats. However, it has a steep price tag. At $199, it can be a big commitment to try out the Elgato Facecam.

I prefer to recommend great bang-for-your-buck items, and many reviews (even highly positive ones) for the Elgato Facecam just can’t quite agree with paying twice as more for one. The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam is a fierce competitor for the Elgato Facecam but at half the price.

So if you have some deep pockets or just love the Elgato brand as much as I do, you may want to give the Elgato Facecam a try. The webcam is certainly one of the best in existence, but I am more satisfied with the price of the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam.

Logitech Brio 4K Webcam

Like the Elgato Facecam, many consider the Logitech Brio 4K Webcam to be one of the best webcams available. The Brio has the highest definition currently achievable from a webcam, which is certainly an incredible feat.

The only real flaw with the Logitech Brio 4K Webcam is its price. Also like the Elgato Facecam, the Brio typically costs $199. As of writing you can score it on Amazon for a discounted price of $148. With this on-going deal, I can see this webcam being a great investment.
However, without an active deal however, I recommend just grabbing the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam. You just wanted beat that price tag!

Final Verdict And Recommendation

The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam is a fantastic webcam that ticks every box on my checklist. The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam captures high-quality pictures and photos and can be optimized to run at 60fps for streaming and video needs.

I find the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam to be an easily accessible webcam with a great price to match. It only costs about $20 more than inferior webcams, yet is priced over $100 cheaper than competing webcams.

Due to the affordable price and high-quality delivery, I can’t recommend the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam enough! If you want to pick yourself up one or check current prices, you can utilizing the link below.

There you have it! The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam is a great – and affordable – webcam for Youtube and streaming and I hope you are as impressed with it as I am.
